1 January, wearing the collier of the Grand Ordre, the King visits the Couvent des Feuillants to hear low mass, receiving communion, and high mass afterwards.

1 January, after hearing mass, the King proceeds to the gardens of the Tuileries to “cure a great number of people with various diseases” by the means of touching them. Le Roy te touche et Dieu te guerit.

5 January, the King treats his wife and mother to supper, before, dressed as a Roman, he attends, in company of gallant gentlemen, a ball with his wife at home of Maréchal d’Albret and afterwards a ball held by Monsieur.

6 January, the King and Queen follow an invitation to supper by Cardinal Mazarin at his Palais and feast in his company.

11 January, the King hunts in the surroundings of Paris.

15 January, the King and Queen visit the house of Nicolas Fouquet for a ball. Then proceed to Monsieur Tubeuf, President of the Chambre des Comptes, and afterwards to Monsieur d’Estrées (François-Annibal d’Estrées) where they were received “with much magnificence and politeness“.

17 January, at around eleven o’clock, the King receives Monsieur de Souvré, ambassadeur de l’Ordre de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, who comes to congratulate the King for ensuring peace with Spain and on his marriage to Marie-Thérèse d’Autriche.

17 January, after receiving Monsieur de Souvré before noon, the King sets out to hunt.

20 January, the King resides at the château de Vincennes to entertain himself in the park with the chase. Monsieur Molière is allowed to use the newly renovated théâtre du Palais-Royal.

22 January, the King visits Monsieur le Prince (le Grand Condé) who is indisposed due to a maladie.

24 January, Henriette d’Angleterre and her mother, the dowager Queen of England, are on the way back to France after visiting England on family matters. Charles II, brother to the Princesse, had agreed to the marriage of his sister and Monsieur in November.

27 January, the King grants an audience to Alvise Grimani, ambassador of Venice, and returns at once to Vincennes afterwards, but travels back to Paris in the evening.

28 January, the King and Queen attend mass at the Oratorians before returning to Vincennes in the afternoon.
