1 August, his Majesty rides to Versailles for the hunt.

6 August, his Majesty grants an audience to Monsieur Hannibal Sehested, the extraordinary ambassador of Denmark, before the departure of the latter.

7 August, his Majesty receives the Députés des Ètats de Languedoc, who are led by the Bishop de Saint-Papoul.

11 August, their Majesties leave Paris for Versailles, intending to stay there for some days.

14 August, his Majesty, Monsieur, his brother, the Prince de Condé and his son the Duc d’Enghien travel to Val-de-Grâce to visit her Majesty, the Queen-Mother.

16 August, her Majesty, the Queen-Mother, has arrived at Versailles and is warmly greeted by their Majesties.

20 August, their Majesties travel to Saint-Cloud, to dine with Monsieur and the Queen-Mother, after which they will return to Paris.

21 August, his Majesty receives Monsieur Daniel Voisin, provost of the merchants, and the new counselors the Messieurs Charlot and Souplet, who come to take the oath.

22 August, his Majesty receives the Marquis Balian, the new envoy of Genoa.

25 August, Saint-Louis, his Majesty rises early to attend mass at the chapel of the Louvre. His Majesty afterwards leaves Paris, at six o’clock in the morning, in company of the Duc d’Enghien, the Comtes de Soissons, d’Armagnac, de Saint-Aignan, de Noailles, as well as the Marquis de Gesvres and the Marquis de Guitry. He arrives at Châlons, forty two leagues east of Paris, at eleven o’clock in the evening, in company of Monsieur, who joined him on the way, and the other gentlemen.

27 August, his Majesty leaves Châlons on horseback to meet outside the city with his gendarmes, chevau-légers, grands at petits mousquetaires, gardes du corps, chevau-légers du Dauphin and the gardes de Monsieur. His Majesty then heads for Sainte-Menehould, where he is welcomed by the gouverneur of the place.

28 August, his Majesty leaves Sainte-Menehould on horseback at dawn and continues to Verdun, where he will spend the night.

29 August, his Majesty travels to Fresnes, between Verdun and Metz, where his troops are encamped, and there receives the Marquis de Gesvres, who has just returned from talks with the Duc de Lorraine.

30 August, his Majesty arrives at Metz at around six o’clock in the evening and receives at once the Prince de Lixin and Monsieur Le Prud’homme, who have been sent by the Duc de Lorraine.

31 August, his Majesty travels to a plain situated along the Seile, between Auaucourt and Aulnois, to see his troops, and then continues Nomeny, where he will spend the night.
